The Trashy PD Has To Survive as an Idol

It’s great. The Trashy PD Has To Survive as an Idol feels like Cale from Trash of the Count’s Family living as an idol. Our MC Hoyun is incredibly strategic to the point that people ask him to set up a mat in Gangnam to become a fortune teller. And like Cale, he believes he is 100% trash, but everyone at one point will recognize that he’s very soft and caring inside. He cares so much about his younger brother and idol members that I want to cry. Hell, there are even blood-coughing and self-sacrificing scenes. So how can I not glimpse Cale in him?

There are differences. For example, MC is less intense than Cale. His trauma affects him in significant parts of the story, and you can’t help but find him pitiful. His love for his younger brother is so heartbreaking, too. He was initially this PD who is crazy competent but hated by everyone that he told his more youthful brother never to let anyone know he is related to him (as a protection from people who have a grudge against MC). And even tho in this new world where he is a somewhat loved idol, he doesn’t change his goal to return to the world where he is hated. WHY? They only had each other, so his only fear was that the younger brother would be left alone.

Apart from the angst, it’s 80% comedy. The MC has such an unabashed nature he messes with everyone. He calls the youngest member Bangbang and the leader Baby (like MC pretends to treat him like his girlfriend). It’s so funny how he can tease everyone.

The story isn’t over yet, but it’s entertaining yet compelling. It’s interesting to read an idol novel from the know-how of producers who are often seen by the fans as the bad guys and background characters. Even the side characters of this novel are 3D, so what can I say? It’s both plot and character-driven. I love The Trashy PD Has To Survive as an Idol.
