The World After the Fall (Original edition)

It may sound weird, but The World After the Fall is different. The text bears a weight with it as you read it. I've never read anything that could depict loneliness like this novel does. The main character is very human; he isn't an emotionless robot, nor someone who complains a bunch. He has gone through a lot, but he has to keep going because that's all he can do.

I was surprised at how this novel has been building up to the same plot since the beginning. All the players follow the system's boundaries set by the world, so they don't improve, even when they spend hundreds of years practicing and trying to improve. The MC, in comparison, abandoned the system altogether, becoming "awakened." He does not have access to the game system skills, stats, inventory, etc. He instead sees the world as is by setting his own rules. It's not plot-hole proof, but it's better than the other reviews make it seem.

I have no words to describe the beauty of The World After the Fall. After all, everything that happened didn't hold a candle to the ending. It wasn't that "everyone is happy and the saved world" ending; instead, it had a more realistic point of view. In the end, perhaps, everyone was content, but every word was like needles stabbing into my heart.

What can I say? As expected of the author who wrote Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint! They never cease to engrave me with these tragically exquisite masterworks. It opens your eyes to a whole new world and changes how you look at everything. In a sense, it makes one more mature.
