Nano Mashin was unusual: wuxia with a sci-fi mix only the MC has, reminiscent of Warlock of the Magus World, The Wizard World & Age of Adepts. However, unlike those, the character is likable and decent, not just some sociopath with an advantage. The MC is the badass type that tolerates no bullshit and kills those that annoy him, or worse, similar to Seoul Stations Necromancer's MC as they are both equally unyielding and unreasonable to most.

The story is about a weak to strong protagonist where MC initially relies on their wits to get by, and later on, as power creep grows, becomes untouchable. The MC has a ruthless and pragmatic streak that would split audiences; some people will approve of it, while it will horrify others. So, if you like your MCs to be saints or pure-hearted, this isn't the novel for you.

The sequel Descent of the Demon God is worth reading if you enjoyed the prequel. Overall, Nano Mashin is a good novel with few chapters and a consistent plotline.
