Not only are the characters interesting, but I Became Hugely Popular After Becoming a Cannon Fodder Star settings are also good. Multiple movie storylines give off a 'story within a story' feel.
In the previous life, the MC is a film emperor, transmigrated into this poor, bullied but beautiful cannon fodder character inside a novel. With his vast years of experience + natural talent for emphatic acting, his rise in the entertainment industry is meteoric and nearly smooth. His beauty is explained in-depth for each advertisement or new movie role he takes, so it's too much, but it's ok.
The ML, on the other hand, is an existing movie emperor in the novel. Very professional. He gets interested in MC after he plays a small role as a beggar in one of his movies. He tries to give good movie resources to MC since he believes in MC's talent and wants to act with him. He falls slowly in love with the more time he spends.
The romance is, surprisingly, a slow burn. ML falls quickly, but MC is very professional and doesn't have a relationship on his mind at all. ML keeps quiet and tries to spend as much time with him as possible. Once they fall in love, it's pretty smooth too. There are no rivals of love or anything.
The other characters are pretty cute and good. Even MC's team (agent + assistant) are good. I wish they expanded a bit more, but it's okay. Some villains are illegitimate fans or creepy stalkers, and some are actor enemies. They are easily solved and have little brain cells.
I Became Hugely Popular After Becoming a Cannon Fodder Star leaves some parts unfulfilled - when/ how do MC/ML come out in public, what happened to the last movie MC/ ML filmed, ML's family reaction, etc. Overall, an excellent novel in this particular trope.
