Rebirth of a Movie Star is a really good read.
I love that instead of the whole 'revenge on those who wronged me' thing, MC flows more to 'the best revenge is by showing that you are doing well in life.'
Honestly, I went in with no expectations and came out floored. I never expected much from this novel, considering it tackles the dirty entertainment industry. But, WOW. I never knew it would impact me and make me realize life-related things.
I enjoy the MC here, where there are no overwhelming comebacks, and instead calmly deals with his problems without running away. He has the advantage of the past to deal with his concerns, so what we've witnessed so far has been smooth sailing. Though as the butterfly effects transpire, he has fewer facts, so part of the enjoyment is expecting how the MC deals with the butterfly effect.
The dialogue and character exchanges were striking and organic, nothing felt too pushed, and I genuinely relish that ML is pretty grey in morals and has a past of "raising" stars, making his acts toward MC make sense. The author did MC's rebirth status quite well. His priority on living a better life instead of vengeance is refreshing. The pair has zero misconceptions, and I admire that MC and ML aren't "love at first sight" but "you're interesting" + "this time I'll sleep with you as thank you." I only lament that I wish the authors discussed ML's past transgressions more.
Overall, Rebirth of a Movie Star is a GREAT read that circles around the entertainment enterprise's dark side and features friends, family, and MC's deserving of rise to stardom. I love it.
