When Two Alphas Meet, One’s an Omega
When Two Alphas Meet, One's an Omega |
When Two Alphas Meet, One's an Omega is super sweet. ML is respectful and doting to the MC. MC is a bit spoiled and strong-willed, but he got a soft heart.
I was reluctant to read it the first time because the description made it sound like enemies to lovers, which was not really my food of choice. But further in the story, it is more of childhood sweethearts with a misunderstanding. Fundamentally, this story is full of fluff and sugary goodness. It did not have sketchy things that plague omegaverse stories (with the dubcon and such). And the MC is stronger than most alphas, so there was not much anxiety about his safety.
When Two Alphas Meet, One's an Omega is actually quite refreshing. The characters are teenagers making dumb decisions that would impact their lives (not just romantically); they both talk through it together and grow. Both of them are mature in a way that most adults aren't. Both also know each other like the backs of their hands, so they know how to read each other well and pick up on hints of how the other person is feeling. It's a really pure love because of how they treat each other so earnestly. It's like that young couple you see on campus and who you're rooting for to get married ten years down the line because they just fit so well together.
I like the setting of the MC, who is not as girly or as femininized as most Omega characters are. The ML is also the kind I adore, the gentlemanly yet witty type.
Also, there's a tiny bit of sexism (like girls and omegas being stereotyped into humanities classes) which weirds me out because this is already omegaverse. So if anything, I expected more omega discrimination-type sexism? But the author casually grouped girls into the same category for no apparent reason lol. Since it wasn't coming up frequently, it did not bug me that much. Overall, this novel is one of my favorite BL because I love how they grow together, and it always makes me laugh. It's a perfect escape for stressful days or when I'm in the mood for fluff reading. They're just two boys who fall in love and are incredibly sweet.
When Two Alphas Meet, One's an Omega is similar to Fake Slackers in terms of MC and ML's characters. If not for the ABO setting, I think it would be another refreshing high school romance with two handsome and cool guys. The plot overall is entertaining. It's not a masterpiece that'd blow your mind away, but it's still quite good.
