It’s Actually Not Easy Wanting to be a Supporting Male Lead is a fairly solid novel if you have the patience because it tends to drag on for a bit. However, there is some (very, very slow, like a turtle climbing up a mountain) character development for MC and ML over time. It is just a little per arc, so if you are looking for anything quick, it is not going to happen.
Please be mindful that the novel can be kinda unpleasant at points because, yes, the author dabbles into zoophilia arcs a little too frequently. But it is pretty manageable to ignore if you are uneasy about it. I will express that whenever a human is involved, the author drove it pretty apparent that it is not frankly alright, and nothing ever comes from it - the ML himself remarks that he would never truly do it; he just enjoys teasing the MC.
Excluding that, the arcs are pretty engaging, and I am a sucker for stories where the MC attempts so hard to be supporting/a baddie but fails miserably and allures everyone.
ML + MC connection is super adorable, and the amount of ML doting on MC that we get is really precious. The ML can plunge into obsession pretty readily, but he earns his rightful share of karma and always appreciates MCs opinion. If this was not a novel, he would be a red flag, but this is just a book so ╮ (╯∀╰) ╭
MC is fairly gullible, and his character tends to be a little irritating, although this is clarified in his backstory. ML is unadulterated scum, and the author knows it. I am not sure how I feel about It’s Actually Not Easy Wanting to be a Supporting Male Lead finale. It ended with a big twist/reveal that was bittersweet. But hey, at least MC and ML are happy.
